What are stretch marks?
Stretch marks, red or white skin, slightly sunken in relation to the surroundings, with broad lines. They most often develop on the abdomen, hips, breasts, thighs and shoulders.
The dermis, collagen and elastic fibres are damaged, causing the dermis to lose elasticity and tear. It then becomes visible and develops an initial reddish discoloration.
Stretch marks are actually caused by the fact that the connective tissue under the skin cannot grow at the same rate as the top layer of skin, so it ruptures or tears. The weakness of connective tissue can be exacerbated by a sedentary lifestyle and poor diet, but unfortunately genetic predisposition can also have a negative influence. So if you have a mother who has suffered from this phenomenon, you need to pay much more attention to prevention.
